Moreover, because of the small amount of DNA shared, we should use another approach to find out the MRCA between them and me.<\/p>\n
First of all, we should explore the relationships between the above mentioned people, so that we can choose the “nearest” to our MRCA.<\/p>\n
As Michetti is a surname common in the region of the ancestors on my maternal side and it’s a surname present in the Acquasanta Vol. IV<\/a>, we should then consider what Don Virginio says in his book about that Family.<\/p>\n
Third we should see the matches the above mentioned people have in common with me and my mother as well as my daughters.<\/p>\n

The Michettis in Don Virginio’s book<\/h2>\n
In his book Acquasanta Vol. IV<\/a>, Don Virginio dedicates seven pages (from Pag. 249 to Pag. 256) to the genealogy of the Michetti family. Here a brief summary of the main facts reported in that book.<\/p>\n
The Casalis\/Michetti in XIII century<\/h3>\n
According to Don Virginio, the alias Casale (see next paragraph) appears in Matera’s area already in 1289, when Michele Casalis<\/strong>, procurator of the town Ascoli, bought on behalf of that city from the Guiderocchi family the Castle of Sasso Pisolis, i.e. Matera<\/a>.<\/p>\n
As of now, there is no certain evidence about the relation between\u00a0 the Michele above and Sante alias Casale (see next paragraph).<\/p>\n
The Casalis\/Michetti in XV century<\/h3>\n
The Michetti family appears already at the end of the XV century (1498) in notarial documents of Acquasanta (Matt 1\u00b0, 1498, c.55): Michetto <\/strong>di<\/strong> (son of) Marino<\/strong> di<\/strong> (son of) Sante alias Casale<\/strong>. Michetto is also said Michetto <\/strong>di Marino Casalis<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
Michetto is probably a diminutive of Amico (Michetto \u21d2 Amichetto \u21d2 Amico = friend.), most probably linked to the name of Sant’Amico (in Italian)<\/a>, an hermit, to whom is dedicated a little church (in Italian)<\/a> on the mountains near Matera, small town between Quintodecimo and Pozza, near Acquasanta Terme. It must not be confused with the city of Matera<\/a> in the Basilicata<\/a> region.<\/p>\n
Looking at the diffusion of the Michetti surname in Italy as of today (total 688, in Dec-2019), we see many occurrences in the Marche and Abruzzo (121 + 139 = 260) regions.<\/p>\n
Because of his fame, Michetto stopped using the name Casalis and his descendants started using the surname Michetti.<\/p>\n
The Casalis\/Michetti in XVI century<\/h3>\n
Michetto<\/strong> (son of) di Marino Casalis<\/strong> is said to be married to Nardolina Angelini<\/strong> from Quintodecimo (see below). Nardolina’s brother, Guerriero Angelini<\/strong> paid in 1508 “3 ducati e 10 bolognini” to Michetto as dowry for her syster (Matt 2\u00b0, 1498, c.71v).<\/p>\n
In 1520 also a brother of Michetto (Antonio<\/strong>) appears in the notarial books (Matt 5\u00b0, c.26v).<\/p>\n
Michetto and Antonio have also a syster (first name unknown), who married in Cagnano (Tull 1528, c.93).<\/p>\n
Antonio’s daughter, Donna Luchina<\/strong>, married Johannes Emindei<\/strong> from Pomaro (Lor 1557, c.119)<\/p>\n
In 1540 Michetto registers his last will (Andr 1540, c 513) and asks to be buried in the S. Benedetto church making also many donations to all churches in Quintodecimo and to the Church of S. Maria Maddalena (in Italian)<\/a> in Acquasanta.<\/p>\n
Pietro Michecti Casalis<\/strong>, son of Michetto, appears in the notarial books in 1550 (Andr 1550, cc. 111, 112 and Andr 1550, c. 143), February 1552 (Tull, 1552, c. 102).<\/p>\n
Pietro’s wife Jovanda<\/strong> (Giovanna), from Quintodecimo, registers her last will in 1561 (Batt 1561, c. 127), leaving some money to all churches of Quintodecimo.<\/p>\n
Pietro’s daughter Donna Angelina<\/strong>, married to Pietro Tullij<\/strong> from Pomaro, appears in the notarial books in Sep-1590 (Matr 1590, 18 set.).<\/p>\n
Pietro’s son Campilio sued Domenico Michetti<\/p>\n
Pietro’s son Antonio appears in the books on 1593 (Anpol., ivi, c.84v) and later also in XVII century.<\/p>\n
Domenico<\/strong>, Sante<\/strong> and Giovanni Michetti<\/strong>, from Novele, appear on the books in 1592 (Anpol 1592, c. 130) for having killed Gentile Laurentij and Sante Lauriti, from Capodigiro. It is not clear the relationship between these Michettis and Pietro.<\/p>\n
The Michetti in XVII century<\/h3>\n
Another daughter of Pietro, Donna Augustina<\/strong>, married to Loreto Paris<\/strong> from Matera, registers her last will on 1616, leaving all her possessions to her children: Sante<\/strong>, Pietrangelo<\/strong> and Lucio<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
