GVE, from USA, has a DNA-Match with me on myheritage:
- 297,9 cM (longest one 57,3 cM) across 18 segments, 4,2%, possible 2nd to 4th cousin
and with my father as well as with my brother and my two daughters, also on myheritage:
- (with my father): 466,5 cM (longest one 57,3 cM) across 25 segments, possible granduncle to 2nd cousin
- (with my brother): 278,3 cM (longest one 52,8 cM) across 12 segments, possible 2nd to 3rd cousin.
Although I have a Venegoni on my tree (Angelo Venegoni, b. 25 sept 1909 in Missouri, USA; d. 18 july2008 in St. Louis, MO, USA) he has no DNA-relatdness with me. Angelo married Angelina Finocchiaro (b. ab. 1915 in St. Louis, MO, USA; d. ab. apr 1994). Following figure shows that branch of my tree.
As you can see from the small blue circles, there is no “DNA-Connection” between my ancestors (e.g. Salvatore Greco and Anna Sciuto) and the mentioned Angelo.
That means we should look further back to find another DNA-Connection with the Venegoni family and GVE.
Following table shows the possible relationship to our MRCA (Most Recent Common Ancestor). In parenthesis the less probable surnames, reported here just for sake of completeness and because DNA-matches and family trees are often not so precise or reliable.
% DNA | My family | MRCA | GVE’s family | % DNA |
---|---|---|---|---|
The possible MRCA between GVE and me should be found in the Greco family: maybe Giambattista Greco. Greco ⇐ Finocchiaro ⇐ Venegoni |

Thus, according to the table above, GVE and I should be
- 2nd cousin, if …,
- 3rd cousin, if …,
- 4th cousin, if ….
Location
Having GVE’s tree on myheritage just two people and not visible, I have no information about where his ancestors where from.
However, according to the few common DNA-Matches, I guess the location of origin of our MRCA to be in Sicily, probably in the Catania province, most probably in the Acireale zone.

Searching Venegoni on the sites
I contacted GVE on myheritage on 29-Dec-2018 but didn’t get any answer so far.
So, as I have very few information about GVE’s family, I’ve to use a different approach, looking for a possible connection through the documents I can find online.
Only information I have are name (George) and surname (Venegoni) and possible date of birth (around 1954 as in 2019 he is between 60 and 70).
I have then put such few information in the search criteria. Below are the results.
