On ancestry I have quite many matches with the surname Moretti:

  • CMO: 127 cM across 10 segments, possible 3rd to 4th cousin;
  • MMO: 124 cM across 8 segments, possible 3rd to 4th cousin;
  • JMO: 28 cM across 2 segments, possible 4th to 6th cousin;
  • BJA, managed by AMO, 27 cM across 3 segments, 4th to 6th cousin;
  • AMO, 17 cM across 2 segments, 5th to 8th cousin,
  • RMO, 8 cM across 1 segment, 5th to 8th cousin;
  • MIM, 6 cM across 1 segment, 5th to 8th cousin.

Because the trees of the above mentioned matches are not very extensive, which make difficult any comparison, I will refer in general to the Moretti family, for the moment.

Following table shows the possible relationship to our MRCA (Most Recent Common Ancestor). In parenthesis the less probable surnames, reported here just for sake of completeness and because DNA-matches and family trees are often not so precise or reliable.

Location

Probably from Acquasanta Terme or nearby, as JMO as well as some other Moretti match to FRO too.

Moreover, on AMO’s tree, syster of JMO, there is Maria Valori, from Favalanciata, 5,7 Km from Acquasanta Terme.

However, most probably not from Acquasanta or Cagnano, because the surname Moretti doesn’t appear in Acquasanta Vol. IV. Valori compare in the mentioned book, but only in the list of surnames, whose genealogies are not treated.
